No One Plays The Call Of Duty Campaigns!

Let me start by saying that I have finished every Call Of Duty campaign and I think that they are far better than they get credit for. However, for years people have said “people only buy Call Of Duty for the multiplayer” and I always knew that was true, but I was still sure many people played and enjoyed the campaigns……. Turns out I was wrong, very wrong!

Those crazy folks at True Achievements did some major homework on the stats for the Call Of Duty campaigns. Incredibly only two games have a campaign completion stat of over 30 percent. These are Call Of Duty 3 and Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 3!

The Modern Warfare series is the most interesting as each game had more and more people complete the campaign, so clearly, people got invested in the story and those that missed 1 and then 2 were interested enough in the story to see how it all played out.

The most staggering stat for me is Call Of Duty Black Ops. I am really bummed out that Call Of Duty Black Ops 4 is not going to have a campaign, but after looking at these stats it is easy to see why. Call Of Duty Black Ops I and II had an over 25 percent completion rate. What did Call Of Duty Black Ops 3 have? 4 percent…. That is not a typo, of all the people that played Call Of Duty Black Ops 3 on Xbox, only 4 percent bothered to play through the campaign. It goes without saying that if there was a COD game to test missing out the campaign on it is this one.

A couple of the more interesting stats are the “futuristic games”. Call Of Duty Advanced Warfare had 30 percent completion rate. Before this game came out, there was a lot of hype around the acting and quality of the campaign. Call Of Duty Infinite Warfare has a completing rate of around 16 percent. This is heartbreaking as so much effort clearly went into that campaign, but people were not interested.

I am a big supporter of the Call Of Duty campaigns, but with these stats, it is easy to see why Activision has decided that enough is enough and are not having a campaign in Call Of Duty Black Ops 4.
