Rainbow Six Siege

ModsRus Mods

Today we have the last installment of our Rainbow Six retrospective for you.

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege (2015) Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC

There was quite a gap between Rainbow Six Vegas 2 and Rainbow Six Siege. There was supposed to be another game in between, called Patriots, but that was ultimately canceled.

Rainbow Six Siege served as a reboot for the series. Whereas in the past the series had been very story driven. Siege did not have a campaign at all! There were solo missions that would have a briefing and a reason for you doing what you were doing, but the narrative, in general, was very lose and weak compared to past games.

Gameplay wise, Rainbow Six: Siege was really heavily based on tactics. This time they added a lot of environmental damage which could greatly affect how you went about your mission. One thing that was really cool was that you were either attacking or defending during gameplay situations like having to stop a bomb from exploding or that Rainbow Six favorite, rescuing hostages.

With 11 maps and 5 game modes at launch, Rainbow Six: Siege had a lot to keep players occupied. Ubisoft has done a great job in supporting the game and they have added some great new content to it, to keep the player base happy.

For the most part, Rainbow Six: Siege was well received, but not quite as glowingly as some of the past games. Many people liked the gameplay and the in depth tactical aspect of it but felt that the lack of a single player campaign was disappointing. Hopefully, this will not be the last we see of Rainbow Six, but Ubisoft has said that in the coming years, rather than release a new game. Siege will be supported with DLC.

Gears Of War 4 (2016) Xbox One

Gears Of War 4 was the series debut on Xbox One and as of right now it is one of the biggest exclusives that the Xbox One has. This is not a spin off game, it is a follow on from Gears Of War 3, all be it 25 years later.

The Locust and the Lambent threat have been over for years and mankind is living in huge walled cities and is living under martial law from the COG. Some humans rejected the COG’s new rules and live outside of these areas. The game is centered around the son of Marcus Fenix, JD and his squad. The Locust is not quite as dead as humanity thought add to this these huge wind flares (which boast some of the most impressive effects on the Xbox One) and humanity could very well be wiped off the face of Sera!

Gears Of War 4 is a fantastic game. While it introduces us to a new cast of characters. Marcus, Cole, and Baird all come along for the ride. It is the perfect balancing of mixing old with new and it was done very, very well. The game did have a cliffhanger ending, but it only made you want to experience more from this new group of heroes.

The team behind the game, The Coalition spent a lot of time making sure the multiplayer was just right and many gamers agreed that they did a fantastic job and even a year later, Gears Of War 4 has a strong multiplayer community on Xbox Live.

Gears Of War 4 has certainly opened up the series and we are super excited to see what JD and his team are up against next.
